Forbes list (opens in a new tab)We need capable specialists and engineers, so developing STEM now matters. After almost 35 years in business, I can say with confidence that 80% of a child’s future begins at school.

Our economy faces a real shortage of engineers. Engineering thinking should be present everywhere, creating innovative products. Progress begins at championships like those organized by USTEM Foundation — with small ideas that have been made to work.

FIRST strengthened both my technical skills and my ability to work in a team, make decisions under time pressure and offer unconventional solutions. That adaptability and systematic approach were recognized during interviews with Delta Airlines, Rivian and Apple.

FIRST played an important role in my development as an engineer. It gave me practical experience with CAD, 3D printers and laser cutters, as well as unforgettable memories. Even the sleepless nights with the team now feel warm and inspiring.

FTC taught me teamwork. With one robot and many people, we learned to use everyone’s strengths. Preparation brought us together as a real team. Even as a programmer, I stayed involved in the build — seeing my code interact with the engineering was exciting.
